Loading the Mary Arctica in Zeebrugge
On November 19th , the Mary Arctica left Zeebrugge for Antarctica with a stop in Cape Town. The ship was loaded by specialists from the Belgian Army with all the heavy material for the BELARE 2011-2012. the Mary Arctica is expected to arrive in Crown Bay by the end of December.
The Mary Arctica, a Danish icebreaker that was chartered in previous years, will return to Antarctica to provide the station crew with their much-needed supplies.

These sledges have multiples uses in Antarctica: they allow for transportation of goods from the coast to Utsteinen, but also accompany scientists into the field once equipped with the adequate container.
