Works at the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica Station (Continued)
Since the new year, the BELARE team has been putting the finishing touches on the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica's new annexes. Now that the new annexes have been hooked up to the station's smart grid, the heated garage, the metal workshop, and the carpentry workshop are all being put to good use!
The BELARE team has been placing stainless steel window frames over the windows of the new annexes to protect them as part of the finishing touches on the expanding station.

The team cleaned and treated the floor of the station's main entrance with an oil-based wood stain to give it a durable coat of protection.

They also constructed a mezzanine in the new garage as a storage area for mechanical parts and tools.

Now all inside walls of the north annex are covered with shelves for storing tools and consumables.

The new metal workshop in the south annex is now fully functional. Mechanics can enjoy welding on a proper workbench in a heated workshop. This is certainly a luxury in Antarctica!

The carpentry workshop is now fully equipped with a wide array of tools and a workbench. This is where all of the carpentry for the station will be done from now on.

No time to waste in putting the carpentry workshop to good use!

Now that the new garage has been finished and completely insulated, machines and tractors can be serviced in a warm environment.

Mechanics Tim and Yann enjoy the comfort of the new heated garage to replace a cracked windshield on one of the Prinoth tractors.

It's a lot easier to work on vehicles in a heated garage!
