Stormy weather at Utsteinen
A bad storm hit Utsteinen last weekend on Saturday. This video provides a quick glimpse of what a storm in Antarctica looks and feels like.
Howling wind
It started at 3:00 in the morning on Saturday. The wind woke people in the station as it started to lash the outside walls of the building.
There was so much snow, it was hard to see anything in front of us when we went outside. The sattelite dish and the closest wind turbine were barely visible from the station. Even the hardy souls who like to sleep outside in a tent had to take shelter inside. When the storm had subsided, they found their tents had been damaged.
