Live From Antarctica: Thursday December 11th
At last, praise the weather gods: we had a day of decent weather! Finally being able to shovel the snow away without it blowing immediately back in was not something I ever expected to give us so much pleasure!
Our morale is clearly weather-dependent, I'm sure one of our scientists could come up with the right equation to model that.
So, today was dedicated to snow shovelling - or base camp maintenance - and building work, both inside and outside. The scraping inside is still going on, and the extensions to the garage can be continued. We know this weather won't last, there's even a real storm - and I mean gale, not the faint blizzard and white-out we've been whining about - foreseen for the 16th & 17th. But, right now, we're just enjoying. The foreseen storm has forced Alain to request that the glaciologists be back at the base camp by the 15th.
